Portland State will face two top-ranked opponents this weekend as the team plays its first home matches against No. 1 USC and No. 3 UCLA. The Vikings will take on the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation Center, and will square off at 1:00 p.m. Monday against the Bruins at PCC-Rock Creek.

The PSU volleyball team opens up the 2008 season by traveling down the I-5 corridor to Corvallis for the Oregon State Invitational. The Vikings will play three matches over two days, starting with a 4:00 p.m. contest on Friday, Aug. 29 against the College of Charelston. On Saturday, PSU will face Wyoming at 10:00 a.m., before taking on the host Beavers at 8:00 p.m.

The Portland State Vikings open their 2008 season at home this Saturday against the Western Oregon Wolves. Game time is 1:05 p.m. at PGE Park. Head Coach Jerry Glanville begins his second season at Portland State. The well-known, former NFL coach and commentator will try to improve the Vikings' fortunes in 2008 following a 3-8 season in 2007. PSU was 3-5 in Big Sky Conference play, with wins over Sacramento State, NCAA-playoff participant Eastern Washington, and Northern Colorado. The Vikings have been picked to place sixth this season in the nine-team Big Sky Conference in preseason coaches and media polls.
