PORTLAND, Ore. ? 2009 Pacific Coast Softball Conference champion Portland State placed 11 players on the PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll as announced by conference Commissioner Wendy Guthrie.
In all, 59 student-athletes from the six PCSC schools were honored.
Seniors Jessi Even, Jamee Rauch and Jana Rae Slayton all earned the fourth honor of their careers. Even carried a 3.74 GPA in business administration during the 2008-09 academic year, Rauch had a 3.71 GPA in psychology and Slayton had a 3.75 GPA in communication studies.
Junior De'Chauna Skinner (3.06, health science) and sophomore Arielle Wiser (3.51, physical activity and exercise) both garnered their second awards.
Players earning the first selection of their career were: senior Jenna Wilson, juniors Tori Rogers and Brandi Scoggins, sophomore Lacey Holm, and freshmen Lauren Bukovi and Kendra Suhr.
"To be both successful on the field and in the classroom is a true reflection of what wonderful young ladies we have here at PSU," said Head Coach Tobin Echo-Hawk. "The coaching staff is very proud of these 11 players for taking care of business in the classroom."
To be eligible for the PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have had a 3.0 GPA for the 2008-09 academic year.
The 11 selections are the second-most for the Vikings since the award was introduced for the 2004 season. PSU placed 13 on the honor roll in 2005.
The Vikings won the PCSC this year for the second time in school history and advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they played in the Stanford, Calif. Regional.
