EUGENE, Ore. Portland State was narrowly outshot by Oregon, 12-10 in Eugene this evening, as Uof O scored a goal in each half to solidify a 2-0 victory, their seventh consecutive win this season.

Michelle Hlasnik set up the Vikings first offensive opportunity as she forced an Oregon defender to kick the ball out at the end line and set up Portland State’s first corner opportunity in the 14th minute. Nathalie Wollmann received the header and forced it wide to Hlasnik, who fed the ball to Frankie Ross just outside of the box. Ross took the pass and took a high shot for the Vikings first shot.

In the 34th minute, Oregon’s Jen Stoltenberg received a long cross from Julie Armstrong on the grandstand sideline. Stoltenberg advanced towards the wide open box and shot towards Cris Lewis. Stoltenberg shot to Lewis’ right and the Burien, Wash., native made the save to keep the Viks alive.

Shortly after, Stoltenberg again collected a long pass that appeared to be wide open for a shot on goal, but Viks defender Carlie Martin made the sliding tackle to save the shot and force a corner. On the corner however, the Ducks would convert on the corner as Stoltenberg to a long shot that bounced down off the crossbar and was cleaned up by Danielle Sweeney to make it 1-0 Ducks.

Hlasnik went for an equalizer shortly after the Oregon goal, when Enneking took a corner and Hlasnik went for the hard header that landed in the chest of keeper Cody Miles.

At the start of the second half, Hlasnik again went for the equalizer as she collected a pass with her back to the goal. The Sherwood, Ore., native worked the ball with the dribble towards the net and rifled a shot to Miles. The dew laden grass made the ball just damp enough to slip through the fingers of Miles and down to the ground towards the goal line. Miles appeared to make the stop in front of the line, as many of the Portland State signaled goal.

Oregon scored an insurance goal in the 65th minute of the match to solidify the victory.

Portland State falls to 4-5-1 this season and is 1-1 against the Pac-10 this season. It is their fifth straight loss versus the Ducks. The Viks return to action next Friday at Utah Valley.
