PORTLAND, Ore. – As the outdoor track and field season passes the halfway point, Portland State will attempt to add to its Big Sky Championship qualifying list as the team competes at the Oregon –Washington Dual this Saturday in Spokane. The meet will be hosted by Spokane Falls Community College, with competition set to begin at 10 a.m. PST.

The meet will be scored as a dual between universities from Oregon and Washington, and schools from different NCAA divisions, as well as junior colleges and one NAIA institution, will be participating.

Portland State’s Division I competition will be fellow Big Sky member Eastern Washington, and the Vikings will join teams from Eastern Oregon, Linfield and Lane Community College to represent the Beaver State. The Eagles will be adding points to the Washington total along with Central Washington, Whitworth and Community Colleges of Spokane.

Last weekend, most of the Vikings traveled to the Willamette Invitational in Salem while a few went to the Texas Relays in Austin. PSU athletes qualified for the Big Sky Championships in five more events at the Willamette meet, bringing the Vikings’ total to 23 so far this season.

Adriane Wai met the conference standard in the 1500m, Emily Hoover qualified in the 10k, and Karissa Fuller’s time in the 5k run (17:30.82) qualified her in both that event and the 10k run. Tony Crisofulli became the fourth harrier on the men’s team to qualify for the conference meet with his time of 1:54.42 in the 800-meter run.

After Saturday, the Vikings have two weekends of competition on the schedule before the Big Sky meet from May 13-16 in Missoula, Mont.
