Portland State outdoor track and field will be heading to their second meet of the 2008 season, Friday, at the Willamette Invitational.
Portland State will be sending a total of 31 athletes to the invitational, to compete in 44 events. There will be 16 Viking women participating in 21 total events, meanwhile 15 men will be competing in 23 events. Portland State will also have six women's soccer players competing in their first track and field meet.
At Portland State's previous meet, the Vikings had four athletes meet the 2008 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships qualifying mark (Tait 110mH, 14.73; Rollinger 400mH, 54.41; Ugwoaba Long Jump, 18' 6.5”; Sims Hammer Throw, 164' 8”). Trevor Rolling and Peter Jason Tait had Portland State's top finish, with second place.
The meet will start at 3:00 Friday and continue on till 9:00 p.m., before picking up again on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Invitational will consist of over 75 teams, including Washington (M & W), Portland (W), and Alaska Anchorage (M & W). Check back to www.GoViks.com for the meet results.
