PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland State Vikings (10-6-4) battled Northern Arizona through 110 minutes of play but fell 4-3 in a shootout to decide which team would advance to Sunday's Big Sky Championship. The shootout was the last since Idaho State advances to the NCAA Tournament in 2006 over Sacramento State.

Senior Dolly Enneking struck first blood in the fifth minute as she snuck one past goalkeeper Tori Rocke's left on assists from freshmen Michelle Hlasnik and Amanda Dutra. Enneking's 12th goal of the season tied her with Katie Miyake's single season point total (27) in 2002.

Portland State continued as the aggressor on NAU's half of the pitch as they fired three shots on goal to the Jacks two. The Lumberjacks countered in the 33rd on a long ball from Sarah Neatherton to Jenna Samora to make it an even 1-1 match.

The long ball seemed to be the thorn in the Jacks paw as PSU had opportunities to convert a second goal but were unable to take advantage.

In the second half both teams went back and forth on the pitch without much success on the goal as both backfields didn't let much through. Portland State was the only squad with a shot on goal as Hlasnik fired one in the 51st.

Sophomore Esty Geiger put a shot off the post in the 88th minute outside of the box and in front of the Portland State bench. Geiger put the ball just out of Rocke's reach as it sailed off the post and rolled to the other sideline.

In the first overtime period, junior Frankie Ross fired a shot wide right of the net that would have been the golden goal. Kristi Andreassen opened the half with a boot to Cris Lewis as the periods only shot on target.

35 seconds into the second overtime, freshman Megan Martin worked down the field and put a spectacular point blank shot on goal. She rifled a shot hard and high but Rocke played up on the ball and got two hands on it quickly to deflect the shot. NAU's Sam Monahan got the last shot in the match with 28 seconds left in the period.

The Viks started things off in the shootout and were down 3-2 with the final shot up to Ross. Ross approached the box with a cool demeanor and rifled the shot past Rocke to leave the final shot to Neatherton. Neatherton converted and Lumberjacks won the shootout, 4-3. They now advance to the championship to take on Idaho State Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Vikings season comes to close but the record books will always point to this season as one for the ages. The Vikings won their first outright Big Sky Regular Season Championship, won 10 games for only the second time in program history and clinched a record above .500 for only the third time.
