With Portland State's 96-68 victory over Montana State on Thursday
night the Vikings have earned the right to host the Big Sky Conference
Tournament on Mar. 11-12 in the Rose Garden. Here are the details:
The top six teams in the league qualify for the post-season tournament,
with the tournament champion earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Currently, all six teams have been determined with six league games yet
to play. Seeds 1-3 have been set, with seeds 4-6 yet to be determined.
They are:
1. Portland State (currently 19-9, 12-2)
2. Northern Arizona (19-10, 10-5)
3. Weber State (14-13, 9-6)
4. Idaho State (11-17, 8-7, can finish fourth or fifth)
5. Montana (14-14, 8-7, can finish fourth, fifth or sixth)
6. Montana State (15-13, 7-8, can finish fifth or sixth)
Quarterfinal round games take place on Saturday, Mar. 8 at the
sites of the third- and fourth-place teams. The third seed will host
the sixth seed, with four hosting five. The winners of those two games
will advance to the Big Sky “Final Four” in Portland. The lowest
remaining seed will play Portland State in a semifinal, with the
highest remaining seed playing Northern Arizona in the other semifinal.
