Richard Seigler, who retired from professional football in 2009, assists Malik Roberson with coaching the Vikings’ defensive line. This is his first coaching position.

Seigler starred at Oregon State from 2000-03 before moving on to a professional career. The Beaver linebacker played with Pittsburgh and San Francisco in the NFL (2004-07), then two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts. Seigler was a member of the Steelers’ Super Bowl XL championship team.

“Our staff had a chance to watch Richard work our camps (in 2010). He showed great enthusiasm, rapport with the kids and a great deal of detail and knowledge,” Burton said. “In addition, I think he is a great story for our kids to emulate in that he was one of the last guys to receive a scholarship at Oregon State his senior year of high school. He went on to become one of the greatest linebackers in the history of the program, as well as winning a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers.”
