Portland State Maintains High-Consistincy in New York City


NEW YORK CITY
- The Portland State track and field team competed at the New Balance College Invitational Feb. 4 and 5, one of the nation's premiere indoor meets. The Vikings maintained respectable times at the meet in preparation for the Big Sky Championship Feb. 25-26.

Sprinters Geronne Black and Karene King maintained solid times in the 60-meters, finishing 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Black ran 7.54 seconds and King matched her career-best time of 7.55 competing in the championship division against the likes of LSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M and USC. The duo sit Nos. 1 and 2 in the Big Sky.

In the 60-meter hurdles, P'lar Dorsett and Joenisha Vinson also competed in the top-tier of the meet and recorded times if 8.86 and 8.83, respectively. Anaiah Rhodes ran in both the 60-meters and 200-meters, recording times of 7.94 and 25.63.

The distance squad also put up respectable times in their respective races, led by junior Tony Crisofulli in the 800-meters and his 12th-place finish in the championship race. The Vail Colo., native recorded a 1:51.81 in the race . The top-three finishers in the race are now among the NCAA's top-10 in the 800-meters.

Amber Rozcicha, also competing in the 800-meters, finished with a 2:22.45 in her race. Rounding out the battery, senior John Lawrence ran a 4:16.32 in the mile to finish 16th in the college division. Closing out the meet, Jaret Rockenbach threw 48 feet nine 9.03 inches.

Portland State will close out its regular season Feb. 12 at the Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor.
