PORTLAND, Ore. - In a late addition to this year's schedule, the Portland State track and field team will compete in the Pacific Twilight meet April 29-30 in Forest Grove, Ore. The meet will serve as one of two final meets for Viking athletes to qualify for the Big Sky Championship.

LAST WEEK THEY WERE FLYING:
The Vikings had a big two days in Eugene at the Oregon Relays as junior Tony Crisofulli and senior Karene King paved the way for PSU's success. Crisofulli finished fourth in the 800-meters with a time of one minute, 49.11 seconds, improving his season-best time by 2.23 seconds. King was runner-up in the 200-meters with a time of 23.86, .32 seconds faster than her career-best.

Following suit of the aforementioned athletes was freshman Luke Leddige, who broke through in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89 seconds to qualify for the Big Sky Championships. Leddige had only missed qualifying by .02 seconds at the Willamette Invitational when he ran a 15.12.

Leddige's classmate Allison Burkett improved her season-best mark in the javelin when she hurled the javelin 134 feet, one inch in the javelin to improve her best distance by six inches. The freshman is already No. 3 all-time at Portland State in the event.

Senior Adrienne Davis had a breakthrough in the shot put as well as she exploded in the shot put with a throw of 46-3.5, a personal-best by a foot in the event. The Portland native moved up to No. 2 all-time in the event and is within 11.5 inches of the record held by former Viking and professional hammer thrower Caressa Sims (2004-07).

THEY'RE HONORED:
With their impressive performances at the Oregon Relays, Karene King and Tony Crisofulli were named Big Sky's Track Athletes of the Week. Both athletes lead the Big Sky in their respective events and are within the qualifying standards of the NCAA West Regional, held May 25-28 in Eugene. Click here to read the full release.
