PORTLAND, Ore. – Mandy Keifer led the way for the Vikings in the women's pentathlon Friday on the first day of the UW Indoor Preview at the Dempsey Indoor facility in Seattle, Wash.
 
Keifer finished 14th overall in the event and scored a total of 3,258 points which is good enough to qualify for the Big Sky Indoor Track Championship next month. Keifer becomes the 15th different Viking to qualify for the championship.
 
Cassandra Sidner finished with 3,017 points in the women's pentathlon but fell short of the 3,100 points mark to qualify for the Big Sky Championship.
 
In the men's heptathlon, Luke Leddige sits in 12th place with 2,462 points through four events. He set a personal-best time of 7.40 in the 60-meter dash to lead off the day.
 
Along with the multi's, the men and women's 200-meters, 5,000-meters and distance medley events were run.
 
Karene King finished second overall with a time of 24.50 in the women's 200-meter dash. Dominique Maloney finished fifth in the event with Sierra Brooks finishing sixth with times of 25.28 and 25.30 respectively. Also finishing in the top-10 was Anaiah Rhodes who finished eighth with a time of 25.37.
 
In the women's 5,000-meters, Brandy Castillo and Brittany Long finished with times of 18:35.07 and 19:03.12. Castillo's time is just shy of the Big Sky qualifying time of 18:30.00.
 
On the men's side, the group of Taylen Howland, J.J. Rosenberg, Tony Crisofulli and John Lawrence ran the men's distance medley relay in a time of 10:15.07 which is second all-time at Portland State.
 
The Viking will be back at the Dempsey Indoor facility for the second and final day of the UW Invitational on Saturday.
