PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State track and field teams wrapped up another successful day at the UW Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor facility in Seattle, Wash. with several personal and season bests.
Geronne Black continues to improve her conference leading 60-meter dash time. She finished second overall in the preliminary rounds and then finished second overall in the finals with a season-best time of 7.46. Three others,
Karene King,
Anaiah Rhodes and
P'Lar Dorsett all made finals appearances in the 60-meter dash.
In the women's 60-meter hurdles,
Joenisha Vinson ran a season-best time of 8.75 to qualify for the event finals. She then finished eighth overall in the finals.
Dominique Maloney won her heat of the women's 400-meter dash and finished sixth overall with a time of 57.51.
In the women's mile run,
Amber Rozcicha qualified for the Big Sky Championship with a time of 5:02.08 which is fifth best all-time at Portland State.
Montaisha Moore set a career-best mark of 38-3.50 (11.67m) to finish second in her flight of the women's triple jump. Her distance was good enough to finish ninth overall for the event.
On the men's side,
Luke Leddige finished the men's heptathlon in 10th place. He finished with 4,450 points which is eighth all-time at Portland State passing teammate
J.J. Rosenberg and Coach Seth Henson.
Brandon Search set a personal-best in the high jump with a height of 6-06.75 (2.00m). Sean Mackelvie won his flight of the men's long jump with a distance of 21-06.75 (6.57m) and finished eighth overall in the event.
Zach Carpenter set a season-best time of 8:45.84 in the men's 3,000-meters but is just shy of the qualifying mark for the Big Sky Championships.
The group of VIkings will head next weekend to New York, N.Y to compete at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Feb. 3-4.
