Nine Vikings Earn Indoor All-Conference Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Geronne Black, Karene King and Joenisha Vinson all earned Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field All-Conference honors for the third time as the Vikings picked up nine all-conference honors, the most since joining the Big Sky Conference.

Black earned her third consecutive all-conference honor with her Big Sky record setting performance in the women's 60-meter dash at the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championship this past weekend in Flagstaff, Ariz. She won the event with a time of 7.36 setting the conference championship and all-time record for the event.

King set the Big Sky championship and all-time record in the women's 200-meters with a time of 23.77 to claim the event title in her final Big Sky championship appearance. King also earned all-conference honors with a second place finish in the 60-meters giving the Vikings the 1-2 finish.

Vinson earned all-conference honors for the third consecutive year in the women's pentathlon with a Portland State record of 3,686 points in the event. She added a second place finish in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a career best time of 8.64, which is second all-time at Portland State.

Vinson teamed up with Ashley Frazier, Dominique Maloney and Dejuanae Toliver in the women's 4x400-meter relay to place third in the event with a Portland State record setting performance. They ran a time of 3:46.80 in the event to earn all-conference honors.

The team of Brittany Castillo, Frazier, Sarah Hanchett and Amber Rozcicha combined for a second place finish in the women's distance medley relay with a time of 2:24.02 earning them all all-conference honors.

It is the first time in program history that the Vikings have earned all-conference honors in both the distance medley relay and the 4x400-meter relay with top-3 finished in each event. It is the highest finish ever for the Vikings for each event.

The nine individual all-conference honors is the most for Portland State since joining the Big Sky Conference and is the second most this season to Weber State who had 11 and took home the team championship. The Vikings finished third overall as a team with 90 points, their best finish and most points since 2007 when the team finished third with 99.5 points.
