Sprinters Have Field Day in New York


Day 1 Results

PORTLAND, Ore. – Geronne Black improved on her conference leading time in to 60-meter dash Friday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at The Armory in New York, N.Y.
 
Black finished third in her heat and 13th overall in the preliminaries of the women's 60-meter dash championship division with a season-best time of 7.45. She then finished fifth in the consolation final with a time of 7.46 tying her previous season best. Karene King ran a season-best time of 7.58 in the event.
 
Black added a season best time of 25.03 in the women's 200-meter college preliminaries with a 18th place finish in the prelims. Her time is the second best by a Viking this season and would be third best in the conference. Anaiah Rhodes tied her season best for the event with a time of 25.32.
 
Joenisha Vinson and Cassandra Sidner set personal bests in the long jump college division with marks of 17-11.50(5.47m) and 16-04.50(4.99m) respectively.
 
King will be back in competition on Saturday as she takes to the track for the 200-meter dash championships at The Armory in the final day of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
