Seattle, WA - Aaron Broussard had a big senior night performance for Seattle, scoring 28 points and leading the Redhawks over Portland State, 94-83, at Key Arena.
The Vikings couldn't stop an inspired offensive performance by Seattle. The Redhawks pushed the pace, shot .507 from the field and .875 at the line on their way to 94 points.
Uncharacteristically, the Vikings were also outrebounded 47-27, which gave Seattle a 22-8 advantage in second chance points.
Seattle ended its year at 12-15. Despite being under .500, the Redhawks won nine of their last 12 games.
Portland State finished its year at 17-15, an improvement over the 14-16 record of 2010-11.
Seattle set the pace early with full-court pressure that increased the tempo.
Broussard led the Redhawks attack, scoring 16 points in the first nine minutes. That staked Seattle to an early lead that they maintained the remainder of the game.
At halftime, Seattle led 47-43. Broussard had 18 points, while
Charles Odum led the Vikings with 13.
The Redhawks scored the first 11 points of the second half and suddenly led by 15 at 58-43. Eventually, Seattle was up by as many as 16. The Vikings gradually got the deficit back to single digits.
PSU got as close as 84-78 on an inside basket by
Chehales Tapscott with 1:51 to play. However, a turnover and missed shot on the next two Viking possessions was costly.
Broussard made 12-18 shots from the field on his way to 28 points. Eric Wallace added 17 points and 15 rebounds for Seattle.
The Vikings got season-high performances from a pair of players who will return in 2012-13,
Renado Parker and
Gary Winston. Parker, a junior, posted a game-high 20 points for the Vikings. Winston, a freshman, hit five three pointers and finished with 19.
Odum also had 19 points for the Vikings, who shot .478 from the field for the game.

the game was the season finale for Portland State and Seattle… PSU had beaten Seattle, 66-65, in the Vikings' home opener on Nov. 15.
