The Vikings took three events at last year's Pacific Twilight event with John Lawrence taking the 3,000-meter steeplechase while Black and King won the 100 and 200-meter races respectively.

Lawrence won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:33.35 while King set the track record with a time of 24.54 in the 200-meters breaking former Viking Jernise Saunders' mark by 0.10 seconds.

LAST TIME OUT:
Sierra Brooks tied her career-best of 24.67 in the women's 200-meter dash to finish sixth overall for the event. She was one of five top 10 finishers on the first day of competition at the Oregon Relays. Dominique Maloney finished 10th overall in the event with a personal-best time of 25.00.

In the men's 200-meter dash, Jake Ovgard posted a career-best time of 22.30 to finish fourth in his heat and 11th overall. Lawrence finished his men's 1,500-meter race with a career-best time of 3:56.32.

TAKING OVER THE RECORD BOOKS:
Junior sprinter Geronne Black continues to make an impact in the Portland State record books. Black broke the Portland State all-time record for the women's outdoor 100-meter dash at the MONDO Mid-Major Challenge with a time of 11.58. With the Portland State record out of the way, she now sets her eyes on the Big Sky all-time record of 11.55 set by Joyce Rainwater of Eastern Washington in 1995. Along with her outdoor 100-meters record, she holds the Portland State and Big Sky Conference all-time record in the indoor 60-meter dash.
