PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State men's tennis team heads to Reno, Nev. this weekend to take on the Aggies of New Mexico State and the Wolfpack of Nevada. The Vikings and Aggies will face-off on Saturday at 10 a.m. PDT before the Vikigns take on the Wolfpack on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Lakeridge Tennis Club.
The Vikings will then head to Sacramento, Calif. to take on Big Sky Conference opponent Sacramento State on Monday, April 9.
The Vikings are coming off a 7-0 loss at the hands of the University of Oregon on March 26 at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash.
The Aggies come into play this weekend with a 5-14 overall record on the season after winning only one of their last 12 duals. They beat Northern Arizona on March 31 by a score of 5-2.
The Wolfpack come into play with a 7-9 overall record having won their last dual, 4-3, against Southern Mississippi on March 24. They are 41-48 (.461) as a team in singles play and 17-27 (.386) in doubles play.
Wessim Derbel is 12-4 as the Wolfpack's No. 1 singles player in dual play this season and is 7-3 in his last 10 matches.
Sacramento State, going into the weekend, is 6-10 overall but 4-0 in Big Sky play this season and have won their last three duals. The Hornets are 36-57 (.387) in singles play and 14-26 (.333) in doubles play.
Following this weekend in Reno and in Sacramento, the Vikings return home to host Northern Arizona at Club Green Meadows for their season finale.
