PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior thrower Sean Mackelvie was named the Big Sky Conference's male field athlete of the week as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Mackelvie leads the Big Sky in the men's javelin after throwing a season-best 218-02 (66.49m) at the Pacific Twilight in Forest Grove, Ore. this past Saturday.
Mackelvie has led the Big Sky Conference the entire season and has improved his distance every time out. His season best is tops in the conference and is 22nd overall in the NCAA West Region.
After fouling in his first attempt at the Pacific Twilight, Mackelvie posted the season best distance in his fourth attempt of the day to finish second in the event.
Mackelvie and the Vikings have one meet, the Oregon Twilight, before setting their sights on the Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championship, May 9-12 in Bozeman, Mont.
