BOZEMAN, Mont. - Senior Sean Mackelvie took home the Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championship title in the men's javelin Friday afternoon in Bozeman, Mont. Junior
Geronne Black qualified for the event finals in both the 100 and 200-meter dash events.
Mackelvie won the javelin event with a personal-best throw of 221-10 (67.61m). He came into the weekend 21st in NCAA West Region with the top-48 in each event making the regional in two weeks.
Black leads the Vikings and the field in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.84 in the prelims. The event finals will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. PDT. She also qualified for the women's 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 24.48 which places her fifth all-time at Portland State.
Also in the women's 100-meters,
Sierra Brooks ran a personal best time of 11.86 to qualify for the event finals.
Anaiah Rhodes and
Jazmin Ratcliff also qualified for the event finals.
Ratfliff ran a personal best time of 24.68 in the 200-meters. Rhodes and
Dominique Maloney also ran personal-best times of 24.68 and 24.94 respectively.
Sarah Hanchett qualified for the event finals of the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:13.54 while
Ashley Frazier 1:01.79 in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Maloney qualified for the finals in the 400-meters with a personal-best time of 55.52.
Jake Ovgard qualified in both the men's 100 and 200-meter dash events with personal-best times of 10.82 and 21.84.
The Vikings continue competition Saturday with field events starting at 10:00 a.m. and running events kicking off at 11:30 a.m.
