OGDEN, Utah – Senior sprinter
Geronne Black received the Big Sky Track Athlete of the week honors on Tuesday for her first-place performance in the 60-meter dash at the UW Preview this past weekend.
For the second-straight meet, Black bested her competitors in the 60m, this time with a time of 7.41, .04 seconds better than her previous season best set at the Jacksons open. Black not only won the event with her time, but improved her standing in the country as she is currently ranked 12th in the 60m with the 7.41 mark, while also holding the Big Sky season-best.
Black has seen considerable success at PSU not only setting the new school record in the 60-meter dash but also the Big Sky record with her time of 7.36, set last season.
Black and her teammates will be back in action this coming weekend when Portland State track and field competes at the Cherry and Silver Invitational slated for Jan. 18-19.
