OGDEN, Utah – For the second-consecutive week, Portland State sprinter
Geronne Black garnered Big Sky female Track Athlete of the Week honors for her performance in the Cherry and Silver Invitational this past weekend in Albuquerque, N.M.
Black, who has been a 60-meter dash specialist in her career at Portland State, once again showed her proficiency in the event after recording a time of 7.34, .02 seconds faster than her previous best, which was the Portland State and Big Sky standard. Black not only secured the new school and conference records but ran to her third-straight first-place finish in the process.
Black is one of five Portland State runners who already clinched their spots in the Big Sky Championship in the 60m this coming Feb.
Black and her teammates will be back at it this coming weekend when PSU travels up to Seattle, Wash., for the second time this season to compete at the UW Invitational. The meet is scheduled for Jan. 25-26.
