FULL MEET RESULTS
SEATTLE, Wash. – Seniors
Amber Rozcicha and
J.J. Rosenberg highlighted a full day of events for the men and women Portland State Track and Field teams as both runners nearly set school records in their respective events, and both qualified for the Big Sky Indoor Championship.
Rozcicha has developed a penchant for big performances in Seattle, after setting the new school record in the 3000-meter event at the UW Preview earlier this year. The senior from Newberg, Ore., nearly set her second school record of the indoor season, recording a time of 4:56.07 in the mile run, which is the second-best mark in school history and a qualifying time for the Big Sky Championship. Rozcicha came in fifth in the event.
Rosenberg continued his improvement in the 400-meter event and nearly set a school-best in his own right. The senior from Pendleton, Ore., recorded the second-best program mark with a time of 48.91, also qualifying for the Big Sky Indoor Championship in Bozeman, Mont. Rosenberg came in second of 36 runners in the event.
Portland State women's distance runners enjoyed great success this weekend as
Camelia Mayfield, set the new school record in the 5k, with a time of 17:43.79, while
Valerie Mitchell moved to sixth-overall all-time at PSU in the same event with the a time of 18:49.98.
Dominique Maloney was another Big Sky qualifier in the 400-meter dash coming in fourth in the event and clocking in at 57.00.
Ashley Frazier also competed in the event and took 13th with a time of 57.75.
On the women's side
Jazmin Ratcliff impressed in the 60m hurdles, qualifying for the finals and tallying a time of 8.73 and a fifth place finish.
Cassandra Sidner was Portland State's best entrant in the 60m, qualifying for the finals and coming in 12th with a mark of 7.75.
In the women's field events,
Hanna Johnson highlighted the throws, coming in 7th in the shot put with a distance of 13.97 (45-10.00). Meanwhile
Montaisha Moore competed in the triple jump and registered a mark of 11.07m (36-04.00)
On the men's side
Jake Schwartz set a new personal best in the 3,000-meter event clocking in with a time of 9:01.68, coming in 15th in the event. Jonathan Talik finished close behind with a mark of 9:06.68.
Sean MacKelvie and
Rockwell Tufty highlighted the men's jumping events as MacKelvie, registered a distance of 6.52 (21-04.75) in the long jump, while Tufty secured a mark of 1.97 (6-05.50) in the high jump, placing 10th.
Portland State Track and Field will now have a week to prepare before they head from one coast to the other when they compete at the NY Collegiate Invitational, in New York City, scheduled for Feb. 1-2.
