FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior sprinter Geronne Black's triumphant indoor season came to a close on Friday afternoon as the senior came up short in the 60-meter dash preliminary race in Fayetteville, Ark. Black entered the event with the eighth-best time in the country but failed to improve upon the mark coming in 15th in the event.

Black, the only Portland State entrant to qualify for the NCAA championship, recorded a time of 7.40 seconds, .07 seconds off the time of the final person to qualify for the finals with a mark of 7.33. Central Florida's Aurieyall Scott took first in the event.

Black finished the indoor season with a laundry list of accolades, breaking the conference and school record in the 60m twice, earning Big Sky Track Athlete of the Week honors four times, and tallying a Big Sky individual championship in the 55-meter dash two weekends ago, making it four-straight year she's earned an individual conference title.

Black and her teammates will now turn their attention to the outdoor season with their first meet coming up on March 16, when the squads compete at the Oregon Preview in Eugene, Ore. The event is slated for noon.
