INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Five Portland State track and field athletes and the Portland State women's 4x100-meter relay team have been accepted to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary in Fayetteville, Ark., from May 29-31, the NCAA announced Thursday.

The Viking sprinting crew will send athletes to compete in four events, as freshman
Genna Settle will compete in the women's 100, junior
Jasmine Woods will compete in the women's 200, junior
Jazmin Ratcliff and freshman
CeCelia Jackson will each compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles, and the Vikings as a team will compete in the women's 4x100-meter relay.

Outside of the sprints, senior
Sarah Dean will also compete in the women's 10,000 meters. Dean had also qualified in the women's 1,500 meters during the season, but will skip the race to focus on the 10,000.

Ratcliff and Dean rank the highest in their respective events of the Vikings competing at the regional meet, as Ratcliff ranks 12th in the 100-meter hurdles going into the meet, while Dean ranks 16th in the 10,000.

The top 12 finishers in each event at the NCAA West Preliminary will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Eugene, Ore., from June 11-14.

Qualification for the NCAA West Preliminary was based on the descending-order list in each event, with the top 48 declared student-athletes in each individual event qualifying, and the top 24 declared relay teams.
