OGDEN, Utah — Senior sprinter
Jazmin Ratcliff picked up her second straight Big Sky women's indoor track athlete of the week honor Tuesday as the conference announced its weekly awards.
Â
Ratcliff earned her second straight weekly honor after winning the 60-meter hurdles at the Lobo Collegiate Invitational Saturday. Ratcliff won the event in a Big Sky-leading 8.42 seconds (8.44 after altitude conversion), a tenth of a second faster than the time she ran at the UW Indoor Preview the week before. Ratcliff's time Saturday extended her lead in the 60-meter hurdles within the Big Sky Conference to .23 seconds, the widest lead within the conference in any of the sprints 200 meters or shorter.
Â
Additionally, Ratcliff moved into a tie for 31st nationally in the 60-meter hurdles, putting her closer to the top 16 in the event, which she'll have to reach in order to fulfill her preseason aspiration of making it to nationals.
Â
Ratcliff and the rest of the Portland State track and field teams return to action Jan. 30-31 at the UW Invitational at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Wash.
