Macias Finishes Sixth in the 10,000-meters at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Portland State's Jose Macias finished sixth overall in the men's 10,000-meters at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The freshman from Hermiston, Ore. finished with a time of 32:28.70 just shy of his personal best of 31:57.31 which he set at the Portland Track Festival on June 14.

The race concluded the 2015 outdoor season for the Portland State track and field teams, ending an outdoor season that saw the Vikings win two Big Sky individual titles, set two new Big Sky Conference records and five new school records, and achieve a program first by qualifying two athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Championships where sophomore Baileh Simms became just the third Viking to earn second-team NCAA All-American honors with her 15th-place finish in the long jump.
