BOZEMAN, Mont. — Senior 
Kevin Robinson set personal bests in all four events of the heptathlon Thursday, putting him in contention for All-Big Sky honors as he stands in fourth with 2,715 points after the first day of the Big Sky Indoor Championships at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
 
Robinson stands just 43 points out of second after the first day of the competition, and just over 100 points behind the first-day leader Drew Thompson of Idaho, who finished the day with 2,842 points.
 
Robinson got the day started with the 60 meters, finishing in 7.43 seconds, a few ticks faster than the personal best of 7.46 seconds he set at the UW Invitational on Jan. 29. Robinson also beat the personal bests he set in the long jump and shot put at the UW Invite, as he finished with marks of 21-06.25 (6.56m) and 33-01.75 (10.10m), respectively, Thursday.
 
Robinson closed the by gaining points on the field in the heptathlon high jump, as he placed second overall in the event with a new personal best of 6-05.50 (1.97m). Robinson's mark in the high jump moved him into a tie for sixth all-time in the event, equaling the mark Brandon Search set in 2012.
 
The second day of the heptathlon will get underway at 9 a.m. (MT) Friday, and will kick off the first full day of the Big Sky meet in Bozeman. The rest of the Vikings will kick off with the men's long jump at 1:30 p.m. (MT), while track events start for the Vikings at 4:15 p.m. (MT) with the trials of the women's 60-meter hurdles.
