RESULTS - MEN | WOMEN

PORTLAND, Ore. —
Junior sprinter Genna Settle ruled The House of Track Thursday, as she swept the 60 and 200 meters at the Portland Indoor Invitational, as the Vikings made their debut on the track that will host the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in March.

Settle won the 60 meters in a seasonal-best 7.63 seconds, more than a quarter of a second faster than the No. 2 runner in the event, Settle's teammate Rachel Vinjamuri, who finished in 7.89 seconds. Settle's winning time in the 60 gave the Viking junior the Big Sky qualifying mark in the event, while Settle also holds the Big Sky qualifying mark in the 200 meters, having run the second-fastest time in the conference with her time of 24.48 seconds at the UW Invitational.

Settle also won the 200 meters with her second-fastest time of the season, as she finished in 24.70 seconds Thursday. Vinjamuri also placed third behind Settle in the 200 with a seasonal-best time of 25.27 seconds.

Junior Akayla Anderson, meanwhile, moved up to second in the Big Sky in the 60-meter hurdles, as she won the event in 8.79 seconds. Anderson's time Thursday represents a .38-second improvement over her first time of the season, which came at the UW Invitational last Saturday.

Senior heptathete Kevin Robinson also set a new personal best in the men's 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 8.44 seconds to move into a tie for fourth all-time in the event at Portland State.

Sophomore Spenser Schmidt tied his personal best in the 60 meters as well, as he tied for second in the event with his time of 7.02 seconds Thursday. Schmidt also posted his second best mark of the season in the long jump, finishing with a mark of 22-10.00 (6.96m).

The Vikings' women's 4x400-meter relay team moved up to second in the conference with its time of 3:50.57, moving the Vikings up to fifth all-time in the event at Portland State.

Junior Whitney Diggs and sophomore Ta'mara Richey also set seasonal bests in the 400 meters and triple jump, respectively. Diggs finished second in the 400 in 57.09 seconds, moving her up to fifth in the Big Sky in the event this season. Richey, meanwhile, placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 37-03.25 (11.36m), moving her up to fourth in the conference in the event.

Additionally, freshman Sarah Medved led a large Viking contingent in the women's 3,000 meters, as she finished in a personal-best 10:12.16 to move up to eighth all-time in the event at Portland State. Freshmen Kaila Ann Gibson, Nevina De Luca and Jocelyn Reynolds also set personal bests in the 3,000 meters with their times of 10:27.60, 10:45.37 and 11:03.16, respectively, while junior Kennedy Martin set a new PR with her time of 10:46.41.

Junior Ben Richardson also led a large group of men's distance runners at the meet, as he finished the mile in a personal-best 4:18.72. Alex Cisneros and Jacob Hicks also set new personal bests in the mile with their times of 4:21.92 and 4:32.17, respectively, while Justin Wikler and Ethan Cotton each shaved multiple seconds of their PRs in the 3,000 meters with their times of 9:10.31 and 9:35.07.

Senior Kris Tollefson and sophomore Nyalual Beng, meanwhile, each moved into qualifying contention for the Big Sky meet in the 800 meters with seasonal bests in the event Thursday. Tollefson and Beng finished in 2:17.67 and 2:17.78, respectively, moving them up to 15th and 16th in the conference, which would qualify them for the conference meet if the season ended today.

The Vikings will return to The House of Track tomorrow, as they compete at the TrackTown USA High Performance Meet #4, opening with the women's high jump at 4:15 p.m. (PT).
