SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Add one for the history books. Five days after entries were initially announced for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Sacramento, May 24-26, the Vikings'
Kamal-Craig Golaube was added to the list of qualifiers in the men's 110-meter hurdles Monday.
Â
Golaube becomes only the second Viking to ever qualify in the men's 110-meter hurdles, and the first since Keith Gill in 2004. Golaube moved up to second behind Gill in the PSU record books after shaving three-tenths of a second off his personal best while finishing in 14.34 seconds at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships on May 11.
Â
Golaube moved into a tie for 57th in the NCAA west region with his time at the Big Sky meet, leaving him out of the top 48 that were initially announced for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds last Thursday. However, scratches opened up a spot for Golaube, who will join PSU teammates
Alex Cisneros and
Sarah Medved at the meet.
Â
Golaube will run in the first round of the men's 110-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Should he advance, Golaube will run in the quarterfinals at 7:05 p.m. Saturday with the chance to make it to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 6-9.
